Project Description
Lordship Stud, Back Lane, Writtle
Redevelopment of Agricultural Buildings within the Metropolitan Greenbelt
The barns were originally used as teaching facilities for Writtle College however they were no longer part of the long term college plan and became surplus to requirements. The site is located within the urban context of Writtle, with some of the barns and slurry lagoon bleeding out into the green belt. The proposal was to demolish the built form and the vast area of hardstanding and reinstate fifty percent of the land back to green field. The remainder of the site was redeveloped with traditional residential housing to complement the existing grain of development.
