Barn Conversion Under Permitted Development
The client came to us with a dilapidated barn and a vision of converting it into a contemporary dwelling. We established that the conversion falls within the criteria for ‘permitted development’. Our concept was to maintain the form of the barn making use of the existing opening along the northern elevation for light penetration, and to preserve the character of the rural lane. The southern elevations were opened up with an expanse of glazing to maximise the countryside views. The glazing provided passive heating for the new residents to enjoy an eco-friendly lifestyle.
